Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring both a password and a confirmation code from an app during each login. This significantly increases the security of your Medentic account. Follow the steps below to enable or disable two-factor authentication.

Steps to Enable Two-Factor Authentication

  1. Open Medentic on your web browser or mobile app.

  2. Click on your profile name in the top right corner.

  3. From the dropdown menu, select your account to enter your account settings.

  4. In the profile settings, locate and select the "Security" tab from the left sidebar.

  5. In the "Two-Factor Authentication" section, click the "Enable Two-step authentication" button.

  6. A window will appear with a QR code.

  7. Use an authentication app like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. Scan the QR code using the app by clicking on Scan a QR code.

  8. The code generated by the authentication app will be valid for only 30 seconds. After this period, a new code will be generated that will be valid for the next 30 seconds. Make sure to enter the current code before it expires.

  9. Enter the 6-digit code from the app in the field "Enter the six-digit code from your authenticator app" and click "Turn on".

  10. After enabling two-factor authentication, we strongly recommend that you download recovery codes, which can be used if you lose your authentication device or cannot obtain a confirmation code. These codes can be downloaded and stored safely.

  11. If you decide to disable two-factor authentication, simply click the "Remove" button in the two-step authentication section.

Why Use Two-Factor Authentication?

  • Increased Security: Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of protection by requiring both a password and a code from the app.

  • Protection from Unauthorized Access: Even if someone gains access to your password, they will not be able to log in to your account without the code from the app.
