What is 2-Step Verification
What is 2-Step Verification
Updated this week

2-step verification is an essential security feature for your Medentic account that adds an extra layer of protection on top of your password. It ensures that only you can access your account by requiring not just your password, but a verification code as well. This process is used to confirm that it’s really you who is logging in.

You will be prompted for 2-step verification in most cases when you need to enter your password. However, sometimes you'll only need your password, and other times you'll need to enter a 2-step verification code, depending on the situation. We use this process to keep your account and personal data safe.

Why We Use 2-Step Verification

Even if someone discovers your password, 2-step verification helps prevent unauthorized access to your Medentic account.

Additionally, 2-step verification alerts you if someone else attempts to log in to your account because you'll receive a notification or a verification code, helping you stay informed about any suspicious activities.

Medentic currently offers only one method for completing 2-step verification through a authenticator application:

Pair an authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator) with your Medentic account. You’ll need to enter the code generated by the app to complete the login. This method is highly secure because it only requires an internet connection and works even if you are abroad or have changed your SIM card. You can find the Step up guide here: Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

What If I Don’t Want 2-Step Verification?

We understand that 2-step verification can feel like an extra step, especially when you want to log in quickly. However, this added layer of security is necessary to keep your account protected. We strongly recommend using 2-step verification to ensure your account is secure.
